Session-2
Day 3
Slalom Camp

Today we woke up at a more-godly hour of 5:00 a.m. We had some wonderful breakfast and then loaded the vans to go to Timberline. We were first in line! The “World Famous Riddle of the Day” was as follows: ‘What can go up a chimney when down but not down the chimney when up’. See if you can solve it yourselves. Our wonderful Harry found the answer. Once we loaded the mile, and a very windy palmer ride. In opposition from the very hot weather at the bottom, the top was windy and slightly chilly, but not bad. Today we practiced a-rhythmical courses, with a variety of different stubby and tall gate courses. Despite the seemingly soft snow, the coaches threw 10 bags (400lbs!) of salt, so the snow in the courses held up extremely well. This proved for an incredibly productive day with a lot of powerful runs. However, in the middle of one of these runs, a few members of the general public community jumped onto our course assuming it was for the public. Rather, assuming the entire mountain was public and all courses were open. Once we pointed those poor lost souls to safety, we continued training before downloading and heading back down to Cascade. For our afternoon activity, we hiked up to the beautiful Mirror Lake, followed with a refreshing swim. Once we returned, we had dinner, a meeting, watched video, wrote postcards (in return for the heavily anticipated phones), and then got ready for bed. Ready for another awesome day of skiing!!
